Boar Hair ( Bristle ) Shaving Brushes have been the favourite choice of Master Barbers in Italy and other parts of Europe for decades because of their specific and superior qualities when face or bowl Lathering. After a short breaking in period, good quality Boar Hair Shaving Brushes Bristle tips become just as soft as premium badger hair yet the bristles have more backbone or firmness which is a quality of Boar Hair.
The OMEGA 48 is one of the most popular Shave Brushes in Europe and in particular Italy. Boar Hair bristles have more strength and provide more backbone than Badger Hair Shave Brushes.
These Shave Brushes work perfectly from the first use but Boar Hair Brush bristles start splitting at the ends and become softer after about 15-30 uses yet still retaining a firmer feel on the face when lathering.
Boar Bristle Shave Brushes are an excellent choice as they easily make quick work of lathering from even the hardest Shave Soaps.
The OMEGA 48 is very similiar to the OMEGA 83 and PRORASO Brushes, but has a longer loft ( which means the hairs are longer ) which will make the feel on the face softer and spread lather more quickly and it comes with a very practical and comfortable Thermoplastic Handle which is both light and easy to hold and use and very durable.
Master Barbers prefer longer knots and sometimes place their fingers on the knot while lathering to increase control while lathering tight spots on the face.
All Boar Hair Shave Brushes including the OMEGA 48 may have a slight odour the first few uses ( which will disappear ) and require you to soak the Brush Fibres in warm water before each use for at least 5 minutes. This can be done by half filling a Shaving Mug or coffee cup with warm ( Not Hot ) water and placing the Shave Brush in Fibres First.
